As you have discovered the news.alert is limited only to the top story.
Changing this in the current framework would be very tricky but as I'm
going to re-do the app for the Intranet I'll be able to add this
feature.  I've sent you offlist an updated news that sends multiple
messages to cover all stories for a feed (news.report messages)  let me
know it it works ok and I'll release it fully. You may need to increase
the max story count in the news.txt file though.
