RE: fast router

Thanks for the suggestions chaps.

I've used Draytek before, I do still have an older model in the spares bin
=
somewhere, and I was very happy with that when I was using it.

I'd not considered the DIY option either... I do have a couple of old PC's
=
kicking about that perhaps I could repurpose with something like RouterOS
o=
n Linux... so long as I could find a distro that is a complete ready to
ru=
n image that I can then manage via http... (I'm not a linux person at
all).=
...

Cheers

Paul G.

Not particularly consumer friendly, but I've used MikroTik RouterBoards
for=
many years, both on my own network and customer networks. They've been rel=
iable so far, 1 DOA and 1 died after a thunderstorm that also took out the
=
BT equipment on the customer's premesis, so probably not a traditional
fail=
ure.

There's no DHCP reservations, no VPN, no DDNS, nothing...

So I'm going to put it in bridge mode and put a proper router my side of

I don't care about its Wifi speed or performance... - I have a separate

outer...

I do care about LAN management options...
I need to set a lot of DHCP reservations (lots of IoT devices that don't
li=
ke changing IP) - my last one only let me have 16 reservations... :(
I need to set it to use DynDNS as a DDNS provider
I need a reasonably easy to use firewall
I need about a dozen port forwarding rules.
I don't need or care to connect storage or printers to a USB port, but I
gu=
ess that feature is probably ubiquitous these days
VPN passthrough would be good, actual VPN server would be even better
A DMZ would be useful

Etc. etc. - the usual stuff really...

Anyone got any good suggestions?
