I had exactly the same problem when I moved from BT (~50Mbps) to Virgin
(max 200Mbps in my area).

It triggered me to upgrade my home network from 100Mbps to 1Gbit and
quickly realised that my Juniper SRX router was also unable to cope with
higher bitrate.

I went for exactly the same option as Stuart and got a LinITX Dual APU
2C router, running pfSense and have been extremely happy with it.
