I=E2=80=99ve had a Makerfarm Prusa i3 for the past couple of years.
What=E2=
=80=99s great about it is that it allows you to solve problems that you
did=
n=E2=80=99t know you had; you know, things that previously you=E2=80=99d
ne=
ver try to find a solution for, because you knew there wasn=E2=80=99t one,
=
if that makes sense.

I=E2=80=99ve made all sorts of bespoke brackets and do-dads for all sorts
o=
f things. Last week, I used it to make a headphone holder that=E2=80=99s
pu=
rpose designed to clamp to the floor lamp next to me. About 5 hours from
in=
itial conception to finished result. Though like many 3D printer owners,
it=
seems to mostly get used to making upgrades for the 3D printer!

But as others have suggested, the finished result isn=E2=80=99t ideal for
s=
tuff that=E2=80=99s obviously on show.

You might be better off for your requirement finding someone with a CNC
mac=
hine to mill it out of solid material.

Cheers,
Steve

Has anyone got (or properly played with) a 3D printer?

Obviously we=E2=80=99re all tempted to buy one and are looking for a
reason=
to do so but I was just thinking whether it would be feasible to use one t=
o 3D print up some blanking plates that would either screw onto (or blutak

over) the existing lightswitch when using Philips Hue so that the switch
co=
uldn=E2=80=99t accidentally be turned off *AND* at the same time could
prov=
ide a mounting position for one (or two) of the wireless dimmer switches
so=
that they become valid light switch replacements=E2=80=A6
