Cool - thanks everyone for filling in on the detail.

Seems a reasonable thing that any =E2=80=98bulb=E2=80=99 replacement
lights=
should operate as a standard lamp when re-powered so thats cool too. Can j=
ust start to replace our normal lights with the Hue Whites and bring them
i=
n to the fold so to speak. Has anyone noticed and degrading of light
levels=
over time? Its been a while since I have used any LED type replacements an=
d it didn't take too long for people to notice that it wasn't as bright as
=
it started out - to the point we just swapped them all back again.

I take it the Philips gear needs to see the internet to be able to
operate?=
I=E2=80=99m guessing this from the ability to remotely control your lights=
etc (looking at their example videos).
Is this the same thing with the Samsung SmartThings also? Does it /have/
to=
be connected to their internet accounts or can it call be controlled inter=
nally via custom software etc?

Paul, your trigger command with the video was to =E2=80=98make it
christmas=
=E2=80=99 does the Pi server act as a sort of Siri Proxy that can use the
p=
ower of Siri to pick up on custom commands rather than the =E2=80=99turn
on=
office light=E2=80=99 that you generally see in the Home Kit demos? I=E2=
=80=99m guessing looking at the HomeBridge site this is a plug in frame
wor=
k of sorts that could be custom triggered not just from Siri but other
sour=
ces as well?

Thanks again all.
Wayne.
