KNX advice

Hi all,

So following on from a query I posted on this forum about a new build a
couple of weeks ago, it was suggested I look at a KNX system for some basic
lighting automation.

Well the system looks great, open, expandable, reliable etc. So I drew up
my system requirements (see word doc attached) and submitted that to a
couple of the knx shops to get suggestions for a component list. However
they are coming back to me saying I need certification, which costs
=C2=A36=
-800 !

Now I am a software developer/data scientist and my electrician has a
degree in electrical engineering (and experience installing rako), so i was
kind of hoping that together we could pull the system together. ( i haven't
fully engaged my electrician yet as I don't want to pull him off other
jobs=
)

So advice please, 1. do I REALLY need certification? (if I do then the knx
system is dead to me!)
2. are there any certified folk out there who could once over my spec list
and make some suggestions/offer a little support?

I am really happy to report back to the group on how installation and
functionality goes.

Thanks all.

Mark
