RE: MultiRoom FreeSat

Wayne,

A Quad LNB is four LNBs in one package, not to be confused with a Quattro
LNB.

A Quad provides 4 independent LNBs over 4 separate coaxil connections in
one package. The receiver (in your case your TV) sends out different
voltages to set the band (High/Low) and the polarisation
(Horizontal/Vertical).

Each receiver requires its own LNB as one receiver may require Horizontal
High Band while another receiver needs to tune into a channel using a
Vertical Low Band.

A Quattro has 4 outputs, one Horizontal/Low another Horiz/High another
Vertical/Low and another Vert/High. You then have a distribution amp
between the Quattro LNB and the Receivers (usually used when you have more
than 4 receivers).

In short each receiver (some PVRs have 2 receivers) needs its own separate
connection.

I hope I haven=92t confused you too much

Nigel

Greetings to the collective.

I've not got satellite currently, or ever had (sky or anything) but with
the imminent delivery of a nice new TV which has the ability to plug right
up to a FreeSat dish I thought I would give it a go.

I understand with Sky - if you have a true multiroom set up with the
ability to watch different programs in different rooms (unlike the older
'feed the same picture up a coax 'arial' feed to a 2nd tv) you need a quad
lnb on the dish to feed each room. Typically the dish has a drop per room
you want to send it to.

Does the collective know if the same is true with FreeSat?

I've tried the web site and get a 'beltch' of ASP errors when clicking the
'get more info' button so was wondering if anyone has tried it ?

Thanks
Wayne.
