Hi Lists, (cross-posted to ukha and uk_selfbuild - apologies if you are on
both)

Several years ago I bought a GV650 partly due to recommendations from one
of these lists.

I work on the "if it isn't broken don't fix it principle" for
"live"
hardware. It's a V3 card but neither the Authorised Reseller nor
Geovisionthemselves could get me a dongle when I finally came to
upgrade the
software a few years ago. It is now on it's second motherboard and has had
a few HDDs over the years. The cameras were fairly expensive direct imports
at the time. It's only capable of running XP and is currently on a full
size PC hidden in my garage.

But i need the space in the next month or so it seems a good time to
upgrade/update.

There was a topic a while ago regarding CCTV recorders but I'm not sure
that any conclusion was reached about brands. Are they now all roughly the
same?

I'd like at least 8 channels with BNC plus the ability to use IP cameras
some time in the future. The usual web, remote playback, storage and so on
would be wanted.

Does the frame rate on the brochures refer to the total, shared across the
cameras like I think it did on the GV?

Is it worth looking at the cameras? If so any recommendations for them?

Thanks,

Simon
