My reed switches are quite light, they are miniature sized.

I tried to buy a stronger magnet from B&Q (door catch magnet) and while
it
worked from a little further away, there was really still nowhere to mount
it.

I spent a couple of hours there messing with positioning and I think I got
it, I detect both magnets at the top of the door, side-by side so that only
one is detected at a time. The one for the door closed is at the top of the
door, and the door open one is at the bottom (if that makes sense)

Just tried it, and for now it seems quite reliable. Just have to make the
rest of my software reliable now.

Thanks for the pointers, I like the industrial one, and I might look into
the stronger magnet option too, as it would be more reliable in the long
term.
