Re: Handbrake encoding times

Many thanks Paul,

Now *they're* the conversion times I was hoping for :-)

Perhaps my hardware is more old school than I thought, as after an hour of
processing was still showing >5hrs to go!
Even accounting for your network overhead (vs. locally stored files) that's
a very good conversion rate you've got.

Are you re-encoding everything from the original DVD? Titles, menus, extras
etc. or have you just picked out the "main feature" to convert?

I'll have a look at DVDFab as the whole process needs to be quicker.
Ideally I'd like two copies - one lower res for ipods etc. and one at best
quality for TV streaming and hours of conversion per film won't work :-(

I remembered I have VLC so am giving that a go, having stopped Handbrake.
Still won't be in the sub-1 hour time slot, but will be better than 6
hours. It's only a ~1 hour video after all. I'll also give it a try on a
better-spec'd machine as that's probably the biggest bottleneck :-/

Cheers,
Tim.
