Quite common .. and software I think and as you still have the O2 logo it's
easy to fix (re-flash) via a USB drive

This will restore to the 'pre update' state - and without any extra apps
you added.
I don't think O2 have yet provided the new image for the post update
(OpenPeak) but it's imminent.  Once that's on the forum you could re-flash
to either the pre or post update state.  My experience (after the messed up
O2 update) is that once  re-flashed to the pre update build it doesn't
update again...
