Would the damage be done by the lack of water or the wind action
itself?

If it's the lack of water, a simple water level switch could do the job.
Unless you cant add anything to the water feature itself of course.

Wow this sound trivial but here goes.

I have a water feature in the garden which is radio timer switched. However
if it is vey windy the water is blown out of it and will in the long term
damage the pump.
I would like to fit a low cost wind speed switch which would switch off the
pump in high winds. Anyone any ideas as to a device.

thanks
