Re: Solar PV FIT Reduction to arrive early.

My impression is that the energy efficiency level will only apply to
post-Dec 8 certified installations. If so it could well be building-regs
~270mm of rockwool-type loft insulation, and possibly cavity wall
insulation if your house can have it - the EPC stuff.

The bizarre thing was that these kind of requirements were in place
previously with grants from the Low Carbon Buildings Programme - the
argument of course being that there's no point generating expensive
electricity if there are easier quick wins to be had - but then when the
last govt introduced FIT these were ignored for some strange reason.

Note: the new RHI scheme that is supposed to be coming in for solar thermal
is expected to have efficiency requirements too so maybe solar PV will be
the same standards. One site (http://www.rhincentive.co.uk/how-to/save-energy/#EE_standard)
suggests it may be at least 125mm of loft insulation and cavity wall filled
where appropriate, though they say "There is a case to suggest that
this is too lenient and there is an
expectation that this will be one of the areas that is changed when the
Government publishes its response to the consultation."
