Rewire - X10?
Hi All,
I've been lurking on this group for many years, and have learnt a lot by
doing so.
In my own way, I've played around with X10 using mainly plugin modules or
things like the LW10 modules wired in.
I have recently moved house, and so have an opportunity to re-think my
approach to home automation, and I'd value your collective experience.
SWMBO doesn't like the standard X10 light switches (the large paddle type),
and I'm thinking whether there is a more elegant way to approach all this.
The wiring in the house is of a vintage, and so I'm thinking of re-wiring
totally - at which point I was wondering if it was worth fitting a new
consumer unit (which I'll be doing anyway) and using the X10 DIN modules.
As far as I understand it, I then just need to put in toggle switches in
each area which can be chosen from a wider variety and so can be something
that meets approval...
I'm a mac man, so was thinking of setting up a Mac Mini running Indigo's
software to perform general automation tasks.
Should I be thinking about a) different software or b) taking the
opportunity to move away from X10.
X10 seems good in its simplicity, but it is, but that nature, simple...
Any thoughts anyone?
Many thanks,
Richard.
