RE: Re: Energy monitoring on multiple circuits
Hi Howard,
=20
What about using a commerical power meter like this one from Farnell.
=20
Stock code 1758713
=20
This has an optional plug in Modbus RS485 interface that allows you to
interrogate all the values you need.
=20
Bit more expensive of course, but it works with 3 or single phase.
=20
You do need to add current transformers but any cheap ones will do just
fin=
e
as long as they match the input requirements.

I just thought I'd report back in case anyone else was thinking of doing
this. Don't bother, it's not a useable solution.
I bought a complete kit from Techtoniq, plus two extra clamps and an
appliance monitor. The accuracy of the main unit is sort of just about
useable for monitoring trends (under reads by about 12% but this varies).
The clamps for the extra two phases are a complete waste of money - under
read by 25% to 50%, and the total bears no relation to the sum of each one
taken separately.
The Techtoniq software isn't up to much either.

Can anyone recommend me a budget energy monitoring system to keep track of
usage
in our office? I'm looking for something that will monitor several circuits
(3
minimum) and show a graph of consumption against time for each circuit.
