I run my automation on a laptop, I have a spare PSU, laptop and
pre-installed HDD, the database gets backed-up to the media drive
regularly. The Idratek system I use is also capable of running without a
controller and there is a simple push button switchover from automatic to
"manual" (aka Reflex in Idratek). However all the glitches have
always occured while I've been away on business, so I no longer change
things if a trip is planned as the most unreliable component in the system
is the administrator!

Hope you get the PSU fixed and system back on line soon.
