Ah I see - you've already got 240V from the panels' inverter and
you're just using the UPS to cover the switchover. Fair enough :)

Interestingly I toyed with running a simple 12V DC circuit from solar
panels/batteries for lighting (e.g. LEDs) etc. (I've too many other jobs to
be done before then though). It depends on how many panels you have and how
much sun (lots I assume!).
