Synology NAS disk types

Hi All,

Just received a Synology DS209 NAS and have installed a 2TB drive. My plan
is to then copy across all my data and then use an older 1Tb drive as the
second drive. Looking at the various types of raid I'd decided JBOD was
probably what I wanted as my important data would also be backed up
elsewhere. Just started to format the first drive and it's being created as
a standard drive (looks like its going to take a while), JBOD it seems is
only for more than 1 drive, I'm a bit confused. Once I've formatted the
first drive and copied data across, do I create the JBOD drives when I put
the 1TB drive in and will this leave the data ok? Sorry if these are dumb
questions but I'm not used to a NAS.

Thanks,

Keith
