Not really sure what format the iPad uses but MovAVI claims to support it.

I use MovAVI to convert between various formats and it seems to work=20
quite well although my needs are probably not as "rigorous" as
some on=20
the list.

It's not free but if you download the trial version (it water stamps the=20
converted files until you buy it) and wait awhile, they keep sending you=20
special offers.

I ended up paying about =A313 so it's not bank busting.
