That's because most of them don't read the voltage too - they just
assume 230V or 240V when making their calculations.  The power supply
at my home is usually 252V, according to my UPS.

I have an RFXCOM power meter (which plugs into the mains to measure
the supply voltage), and it has been pretty close to the meter
readings so far.

My current cost display says 107kWh (-17%)
I also have a Hmmm device (free from npower) that says I have used
156kWh
(+25%) over same period.
