Original XBMC storage question

Chaps, - not in front of a handy xbox just now, so not able to just
quickly "suck it & see"...

I was wondering if an original XBOX running XBMC would work with a USB hard
disk and be able to access it as an external storage device? - obviously I
know that it can quite easily access & use a USB memory key, and I know
that it automatically reformats it to FATX as soon as it's plugged in...

I have a remote xbox out in the holiday home in Spain, with no network
connection and no easy way to add/remove content to it.. I also have at
least a couple of spare external USB disks (portable 2.5" ones that
take power from the USB) and I wondered if I could use that as expansion
storage via which to get new content onto it... So long as an XBOX will
power it, format it, and then be able to access it, I could hook it up to a
networked XBOX here, and fill it up with new stuff (films mostly), then I'd
just need to take the disk with me next time, hook it up the xbox there,
and use the xbmc filemanager to copy the stuff onto the internal disk - or
even just leave it connected permanently for expanded capacity...

Anyone got any idea if this idea is a go-er? - Obviously I have an xbox
controller port-to USB adapter cable...

TIA

Paul G.
