Re: OT : Non-EU drives from scan.co.uk - acceptable ?

Personally, I wouldn't consider them acceptable.

I can imagine it being hugely time consuming 2 years in the future, trying
to get scan to replace drives at their expense - they'll point you at the
manufacturer, who will quite rightly point out they are "Out Of
Region" and
not covered.

They're not "as advertised" - they don't have a manufacturers
warranty,
contrary to the statement on their website.

I'd send them back - if it's quick enough, do it under distance selling
regulations, otherwise, return them as "Product not as
advertised" -
requesting a replacement that DOES have a usable manufacturers warranty in
the UK, or a refund.

By all means, contact scan by phone / email first - - I've found their
support to be a little hit and miss - - you either get a knowledgeable,
helpful person, or someone who is clearly trying to follow a script. If
you
are returning them, make sure you get an RMA first - else they wont accept
them (I know you know) :s

That's my take on it.
