You're right that it may well be easier to decrypt (presumably) serial USB
chatter than radio chatter, but I was aiming at a single USB powered box
that would listen to the Electri-save, transmit/recieve Bye Bye Standby
data, and (a little later) talk to a homemade LED lamp (glowing angry red
when too much power was being used!).
Though having written it down like that, I wonder if it's a step too far

it might be easier getting a OWL USB box...  :)

Have you actually seen these in a Tesco shop or was it online?
