RE: Clipsal integration
I guess you just needed to get that off your chest eh Dean? ;-)
Yeah - Schneider don't really do "marketing" as such - it's an
industrial
giant and doesn't generally have to market its products.
Of course there is no "Clipsal UK" - it simply doesn't exist.
(Which of
course you know as you deal directly with the Schneider reps etc.) I'm sure
there will be complaints about me saying it but there simply is no
"Clipsal
UK" - it's just a brand name within the Schneider portfolio - nobody
works
for "Clipsal" in the UK, there is no building with "Clipsal
UK" above the
door, there are no payslips with "Clipsal UK" on them. C-Bus was
simply one
of thousands of products (in addition to product lines like G.E.T which
you'll find in the big DIY chains) being handled by RSS (Residential)
within
Schneider.
That's one of the main reasons why I left there, to RSS C-Bus was just
another product to sell whereas when I joined it was "owned" by
T-BIS
(Transparent Buildings Integrated Systems) and they were a great group of
guys who really loved that product and really were interested in making it
fly. Most of them *WERE* ex "Clipsal UK" guys from the days when
it did
exist (before it became assimilated into the Schneider empire) but T-BIS
was
dissolved and C-Bus (and I) got moved over to RSS. Only one of us was able
to get out of RSS on our own. ;-)
Now C-Bus is back with BSS (commercial) though - and some of those guys are
the ex-T-BIS guys and I'm still in touch with them. Bloody good bunch of
blokes!
As for C-Bus support, well NaimNet and NetStreams have had C-Bus drivers
available for them since about three months after I started at my current
job. :-D
