I would recommend Powerstrip as well, more options than you could ever
use...

Thinking laterally, have you considered moving the task bar to a more
screen friendly location?

You can setup a custom resolution in nvidia control panel. Failing that,
you can use powerstrip a third party prog to create custom resolutions -
especially designed for this kind of problem.
