RE: [OT] Vista MCE DVD playback

Hi Paul.

It's an nVidia 7300GT chipset on a Gigabyte PCI-Ex16 card, running the
absolute latest forceware drivers downloaded from nvidia this weekend
(the driver was only a few days old, so has only been released for about
a week even now).

I'm using it to drive both a monitor (via DVI), and my 50" plasma via
analog VGA, these are running in clone mode.

It struck me as significant that it only appears to be DVD playback
that's affected, whilst AVI/XviD etc. plays just fine...

Previously, I would have installed something like the nVidia Purevideo
DVD decoder, but this isn't supported under Vista, and the only way I'm
aware of to force it to run is via some horrid cludge.. I knew there
was a reason I *hate* vista, but I didn't have a lot of choice on this
occasion.

Paul G.
