Re: Re: Smart Meter on trial (BBC Video)
At the moment I have just got it installed in a standard (cheap) midi
tower case - I had to replace the PSU with something better as the whole
thing was vibrating like mad - a penalty for buying cheap cases. I shall
keep it in there for a while until I eventually decide what it will end
up as. Initially I was planning on something looking like a NAS box, but
at this stage I didn't want to pay (lots of) money for a small case,
only to find I end up using more disks than the case could cope with.
I will be buying a PCI SATA card for it (preferably 4 port), as the mobo
only has two fitted. That was one of the benefits of some Via C7 mobos
in that they had 4 SATA connectors.
I intend putting some spare 500Gb drives in it soon, so power will
probably increase. When I can, these will then be replaced with WD green
alternatives.
WHS, for me, is still in it's infancy (I only got it running a couple of
days ago) so I am still getting used to it - but so far so good. The
alternative would be a Linux installation, running Samba.
