Re: Hot water taps

I thought someone might ask that....

So, the website claims 7p/day running costs if no water is drawn. I haven't
noticed that it is using a huge amount of power, and it seems to power on
for only a few seconds every 10 mins if no water is drawn. I do have all
the
kit required to actually measure it - so will do so and let you know.

It is well insulated, though - under the counter the canister is cool to
the
touch, and there is no obvious external indication it is holding 3l of
water
at 100C...

I suspect there is an argument that goes along the lines of:
a) kettles are not well insulated
b) 'most' people boil 2x the amount of water required, then only use half
of the water.
...that says that this is more efficient when used by 'most' ppl.

I do keep meaning to measure the power to see how much I would save if I
were to power off at 11pm each evening and back on at 6am. Will do it and
let you know.
