Thanks for your message.
I think I didn't do a good job of explaining my problem!
As I understand it, the solutions you offered seem to be focussed on
connecting together (mixing) the 2 external headphone outputs from the
internal DVD players.
What I want to do is to connect both of the internal digital audio outputs
from the DVD players to the single CD audio-in connector on my motherboard.
Hopefully that's clearer now?

If I've understood you correctly, sounds like you need a very basic mixer
to
do this. You shouldn't really connect the outputs of the DVD players
together - as may get some strange results and possibly even damage the DVD
palyers.
Most sound cards only have a single line in - so to connect more you'd need
to use something like:

Or even cheaper, use a passive summing box:
