Hi Marc

My findings were pretty much the same as yours.  The wireless was the main
issue though as although there is an AP about 5 feet away, it just wouldn't
connect.  It would connect to my upstairs AP but only when it was upstairs
:-(

I real shame as at a glance it seemed to have potential.  I took mine back
to Maplin for a refund with no issues and have since ordered a Mimo pivot
http://www.mimomonitors.com/products/imo-pivot-touch.
 It's a different animal and double the cost but I'm hoping will get me to
where I want to be.
