AV AMP disaster

HI all,

Hopefully someone will be able to help, recently put in surround
sound as part of lounge / dining room changes and after the chaps
fitted the furniture went to install the AV Amp per what I thought
was a carefully thought out plan and b***er the amp is to deep for
the cabinet.

given the ammount spent on the furniture it's staying and unless I
can work out a way of shoe horning an AV amp into the available space
my lovely new KEF and Artcoustic Speakers might be finding there way
to ebay!!!

So does anyone have any ideas if it is possible to butcher an Onkyo
605 such that it is less than 300mm deep including speaker binding
posts (I think the front panel is on a ribbon cable so tempted to see
if that can be extended allowing me to remove front panel from the
chasis) Looks aren't important as it will all be hidden in a cupboard.

Alternatively any recommendations on an AV amp with 7.1, two zones,
HDMI switching, up conversion that is less than 300mm deep including
speaker connections and doesn't cost a fortune??

I've looked but can't find anything

Cheers

Paul
