If you have a IR system you can control individual velux windows even
though the switch is controlling banks of 3 windows
You have to order the remote control unit - this was an undocumented
feature of the  Velux setup

I have also got the Velux interface box but in true HA fashion I have
still to connect it up.
I find that by using the rain detectors the other operations can be
easily done by the switches

I have three banks of three windows with Blinds
I never have any reason not to use them in Banks of three
Also the Velux switches are clever
If you want to open all windows you just press the the buttons
Only one bank at a time will operate but when one bank has finished the
next will start automatically

One word of caution - From memory I don't think the velux switches are
that easy to hack

We're just putting in C-BUS in our new build and I'm just getting to
grips
with it - seems pretty intuitive if you're in any way techie, which I

if you're on UKHA you may be...

I second everything Paul says, although we haven't yet got anything
working
other than in a pile of cable on my desk.

Paul, out of interest how are you doing your Velux control?  Have you
got
the proprietary Velux interface for external control triggers or are you
using some other clever (DIY?) method.  I have 3 windows in different
rooms
powered by a single Motor control unit, but ISTR that to get them
individually controlled by Comfort or C-BUS I would need 1 interface
unit
per window otherwise they would all operate together - a v expensive
solution, so am thinking of hacking the Velux switch together with a
relay
unit

Yes - I have it and would highly recommend it.

I control all the advanced intelligence stuff in HomeVision and use
Kevin's
HV/CBus/xAP gateway to directly link into CBus - works VERY well indeed
:)

I've just ordered a couple of wireless CBus plug in dimmers for a couple
of
table lamps too. You can also get a wireless (RF) remote control
although
I've not got or used it - I think Kevin might have one though?

I use HV again for IR remote light operation - a couple of Harmony
remotes
trigger a change/macro etc in HV and then controls the relevant lights
on
the CBus network.

I have 14 (IIRC) DLT switches - and whilst not cheap, are very flexible
- I
have all kinds of other devices controlled by them apart from lights -
electric lock, a guest mode trigger (to disable various PIR's in guest
bedrooms, set heating modes etc), control of Velux electric windows etc
etc.
Linked with another HA controller, it's a very flexible system.

I know other people here use the CBus PAC and touchscreen - these are
other
options but I've not used them. To me, the flexibility of linking my
alarm,
HV, CBus etc together is very powerful.
