I understood that running a ground source heat pump cost around the
same
as heating a house by gas - i.e. around a third of the cost of
"normal"
electric heating.

£1000 sounds mad unless you're living in a converted cathedral - is
the
conversion a single unit, or is there a chance that you could be getting
billed for your neighbours too?
