Subject: [ukha_d] Any ideas on where to start?

I just had all the walls taken down for a remodel and I put pvc tubes
in the wall for future wiring. The walls are now complete and will be
primed tomorrow.

Question: I'm overwhelmed with information. Where do I start in
deciding what book, company, direction to proceed with in creating a
smart home? I'd like a DIY option so I can be in control, but need
something very user-friendly because I'm lacking some confidence at the
moment. Even any companies to avoid is helpful- I'd like the capacity
to fully automate (irrigation, security...), but want to have a system
I can spend money over the many upcoming years. I'm in USA so a company
with an office here might be better depending upon shipping costs. Any
thoughts?

Thanks, Michael
