Classic case of Ring Trip.

The line is wet somewhere. If its failing at just the NTE 5 then the fault
is on BTs part of the network and you need to call them. Most likely a
fault
outside the premises, most likely underground, unless the NTE5 got wet when
the plasterer was working.

Subject: [ukha_d] Incoming telephone calls dropped after one ring

Hi

My phones were disconnected/reconnected repeatedly for a few days whilst
the
plasterer was working round the master socket. An internal phone line was
cut accidentally. After completion of the work a normal phone was connected
on Monday and worked fine. Monday night I added some secondaries and they
were getting a dialtone which was all I tested, but this morning I got told
that incoming calls get dropped after the first ring. This is still
happening even after I have disconnected all phones and plugged a single
one
directly into the BT NTE5. ADSL and outbound calls still work fine. BT
ringback test fails.

Anybody know what fault this is likely to be ?

Cheers

David
