New ones do yes - although ive had countless central touchpads with
new=20
firmwares for various issues. Seems stable at the moment.

Thats exactly it - its a bus. The price for their hardware is expensive=20
but you can use a standard RS232 or usb to rs485 adaptor and there is a=20
protocol document flying around. I'm sure there is probably a tcpip to=20
RS485 device as well you could check http://www.bb-europe.com. Very=20
impressed with the heatmiser stats and if they would provide the
software=20
as open source I'll bet they would sell alot more of those stats. The old=
=20
ones I have dont allow me to maintain the time centrally but as fas as I=20
know new ones do.

I'm about to purchase a shed load of the heatmiser 12V stats as well.
There's something that I basically don't understand.
Each stat communicates via 485 comms so to control every stat I connect=20
a
single 485/232 converter to the '485 bus' as every stat will effectively=
=20
be
on the same pair of wires?
Sorry I don't really understand 485 comms, and the heatmiser web site
doesn't explain anything

So I connect my converter do some sniffing and off I go?
I note that they have an IP based controller @ =A3350
