RE: [OT] Vista expert needed !!!

I'll just chip in & add that after much weeping & wailing
& gnashing of tee=
th, I have now reverted back to XP on both my laptop and my desktop PC. -
t=
hat despite actually paying =A3104 for an OEM copy of Vista ultimate for
my=
desktop machine.

I tried... I really did, but Vista just kept on pushing me to the brink of
=
exasperation so I've finally given it the finger... =A3104 isn't too high
a=
price to pay for my sanity....

I'm even wiping the preinstalled copy from the new laptop that I bought
for=
SWMBO for xmas, - that despite the fact that I'm going to have to jump thr=
ough a fair few hoops to get XP on there... - No floppy drive on laptop,
& =
XP needs SATA drivers installed during setup from floppy.. - tried USB
flop=
py, but that only works for the first part of setup (i.e. F6 and select
dri=
vers, prior to formatting the disk) - during the subsequent file copy, XP
n=
o longer sees the USB floppy, so can't get the files into the build... I
ev=
en tried pulling the disk & part-building it in another machine... -
that d=
idn't work either due to different HAL being loaded... :-(

I'm now thinking the only option that's going to work is to build a
customi=
zed XP install CD with the SATA drivers slipstreamed in... - but even this
=
is worth the effort to get rid of this stinking pile of rat-puke that is
Vi=
sta...

All IMHO of course!
