I'm reconsidering all this.

The reason I wanted a NAS is that my Jukebox machine (built nearly three
years ago - http://tinyurl.com/24mhca ) has VIA
mobo with a single slot
which is taken up with an IDE controller and it's maxed out with 8  drives.

I might just be better with a SATA enclosure with USB out plugged into this
machine.  I've also seen eSATA to USB devices like this...

Presumably going thru USB to my server is going to be a bit of a bottle
neck
though?
