Don't know about the PS3, but the Wii Sensor bar is basically just a
bit of
plastic with an IR LED at each end.
As long as the voltage drop isn't too great over the CAT5 it'll be OK.
Failing that there are loads of 'wireless sensor bars' available (read two
IR LEDs and a battery)...
Running to N0 to change the discs could be a drag though...
