RE: MS Home Server
Hi Brian,
Sorry for the delay, I've been working away.
No as yet I haven't ordered one, that being said it still is my preferred
solution. I want to ensure that the hardware will be able to run SQL
Server
& IIS with ease and the hard drives are easily upgradable, subject to
that I
should be ordering one in the next couple of weeks, I'll let you know how I
get on.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Did you ever buy one of these?
Did anyone buy one?
I am thinking of buying one and wondered what people thought of them.

Subject: [ukha_d] MS Home Server
I know a number of you guys have been running the various beta version of
MS
Home Server and I wondered what the general feeling was?
I am replacing my rather large, 6 year old and over cumbersome storage
server with a NAS, probably a rack mounted Linksys, but I still need a
small
server to run a couple of applications. My first thought was to keep the
old
beast running but it does seem a waste of space and energy so I've have a
google around and found http://www.tranquil
<http://www.tranquilpc-shop.co.uk/>
pc-shop.co.uk/ and they do what
looks like a very nice rack mountable solution with a very small footprint
and energy consumption
So the questions -
1. Should I jump on the MS Home Server band wagon?
2. Should I go for an off the shelf hardware solution or in the true
nature of HA pull my finger out and build one from scratch?
Many thanks,
Steve
