RE: Fw: IR Control of multiple xboxes all in one location - Node 0

Do you have a HomeVision unit ?

Frank McAlinden has a very nice Zoned IR system (called FirM) for both
receive and transmit, combined with homevision as the brains you can
effectively route the IR signals from one zone to another and/or change the
IR signal sent.

http://www.armaghelectrical.com.au/page7.html

I do (or have tested but yet to fully implement) this with our bathroom TV
and an XBOX running XBMC. When the HV unit receives a "TV A/V
button" signal from the bathroom zone it sends an IR signal to the
XBOX in node0 to turn it on, then any IR signals received for the TV
"cursor" or "OK" buttons from the bathroom zone are
translated into the equivalent "cursor" or "Select" IR
signal for the XBOX and are sent to the Node0 XBOX.

Using the same sort of logic I would think you could get HV to watch for a
specific IR button press from your bedroom zone that HV could interpret to
mean "now route all bedroom XBOX IR to the Downstairs XBOX". You
could then watch for the "TV OFF" IR signal and then set the
routing back to normal ready for normal viewing.

Ok, thanks for the info, My last hope is that i don't actually need to
be able to use all of the available buttons on the xbox remote, well
in fact i need to get it to the point of only needing 50% of them.
Then change the keymaps on one to use the 50% of buttons not used by
the other xbox, so all the codes will go to both xboxes just half will
be ignored by each xbox.

web devices are of course an option but for sheer simplicity my
harmony remote just works!

Will post back how i get on in the new year.

Cheers

Noel
