You may well be lucky. I used to do something similar with a standard
Ghost image onto Dell machines to upgrade them from XP SP1 to Win2k
Pro  ;-)

The only problems I had were mobo/chipset changes as newer models were
brought out, but nothing that couldn't be resolved.
