But you are not comparing like with like.

You should be comparing SKY+ or SKYHD with a Series 3 Tivo and YES we
should
have a Series 3 machine available here :(

I would expect that a 2000 vintage PC would also be quite slow compared to
a
2005/2006/2007 model.

I really long for Tivo to return to these shores. They are launching a new
Tivo in Australia I just hope they could be persuaded to return to the UK
but the biggest stumbling block has to be access to decent programming.

Freeview offers very little of interest beyond the 5 terrestrial channels.
Pay TV falls into one of two camps.... Cable - inaccessable to a large
percentage of the population, or $KY which wont open up its system.

I wonder if the BBC/ITV satellite platform due to be launced soon will open
up a greater choice of programming without being forced to pay the Murdock
Empire. Sadly I currently have little choice as most of what I record is
Discovery/NatGeo based.
