Hi Chris,

Not really, Cortex platform is XP, and my Mac is not 24/7. In theory I
could
rsync stuff to the Mac and let Time machine do it, but if I was to do that
I
might as well rsync straight to the ReadyNAS.

The data backup side is covered I think. What I am trying to converge on is
disaster recovery for hardware failure and minimising the repair time.

As for lifetime ... I've had disks last from 2 months to 9 years. At the
scale of an individual user I think it can be considered a random process.
