CT100 and face plates

Hi all, my big sister has just (mostly) completed her first self built
house, fantastic!

During the build I laid a lot of CAT5e and CT100. At some stage they had an
Ariel installer in which fitted the face plates for the CT100.

The concern is that he did not fit "F" connectors to the face
plates but
used what looks to me to be ordinary old sockets. I removed one face plate
and it had a small circuit board in it but I have no idea what this does.

Can anyone inform me if this is okay please or should I get him back to
install "F" connectors?

Thanks all,

B.
