[OT] Weird ADSL Problem

Tapping into the mine of OT knowledge... over the last couple of weeks
I've
had pipex investigating an intermittent fault with my broadband. I'm pretty
far from the exchange, which means my Line attenuation is typically around
65dB and my SNR is usually on the lower side of 10.

With my Draytek router this has never been a problem (>2 years) but
recently
it was showing line attenuation of > 75dB and dropping the connection.
Weird
thing is that whenever I plug in my Speedtouch USB modem, it always seems
to
be able to connect. So I thought it was the router. Got a new Netgear range
max (or somesuch), installed but its doing the same thing. I've just lost
the connection again tonight for about 45 minutes, but all the time
switching to the USB modem worked!

Any suggestions? Anything I can try? Pipex probably don't care that it
works
fine with a modem, but not with a router.

Regards

Simon
