The main reason is that it integrates nicely with Comfort, giving me
the
ability to remotely control the heating setpoint, query the setpoint,
the current temperature and the heating status etc. and have all this
spoken over the voice interface so I can do it all from a mobile
phone...

I guess the smartfit s-plan would work with the DHW bit left unused. Bit

of an expensive way of doing it though.

Why not just fit a programmable thermostat? There may even be one that
plugs directly into your boiler (maybe even with a wireless temperature
sensor).
