First processor I bought was an AMD K6-2 350 and I haven't bought an Intel
processor since - I've had a few Intel based laptops but all the desktop
processors I've bought have been Intels. (I was given a P4 2.53GHz with
mobo
though which runs quite nicely.)

This machine will be in my "office" at home along with my current
media
server (that's also being rebuilt / rehashed) so I don't think that the
noise difference between the two will be that much of an issue but the
feedback is most welcome.

I don't do *ANY* gaming at all ...

Pretty much all it will be used for is to play back ripped DVD movies off
my
server with PowerDVD, TheaterTek or ZoomPlayer or MCE recordings off the
MCE
box with Windows Media Player whilst ripping existing DVDs with AnyDVD
&
CloneDVD, running Outlook, Excel, MSN & XChat and maybe a bit of
fudging
around with VB / VC++.

The fastest CPU I currently own is that P4 2.53GHz ... I think the
possibility of going "quad core" is a *LOOOOONG* way away for me!
:-D
