It could be the PC taking revenge on Memorex for all the glasses destroyed
in their TV commercials.

"Is it live or Memorex"  LOL :)

Personally I found that the Memorex tapes I had were among the worst. They
shed their oxide coating all over the heads so I had to keep cleaning them.
After that I stuck to TDK.
