These are generally auto-diallers set to determine when someone is at
home
and therefore the best time to call them.

Anyone successfully stopped silent calls ? We keep getting an 0800 number
call us, but always dead silent.

Looking on BT's website you have to PAY to have a service to stop unwanted
calls - cheeky b'stards.
